OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES 100 HECTARES OF FARMLAND TO AGBE COMMUNITY FOR AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

Abeokuta, Ogun State - In a significant boost to agricultural development in the state, the Ogun State Government has allocated 100 hectares of farmland to the Agbe community for annual farming. The official handover ceremony took place on March 5, 2026, at the community farm site, in line with the administration's commitment to enhancing food security and supporting local farmers.

The ceremony was graced by Hon Lai Taiwo, Chairman of the Ogun State Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC), who was accompanied by other executive members of the corporation. In his remarks, Hon Taiwo emphasized the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration's focus on agricultural development as a key driver of economic growth and poverty reduction.

Farmers in the Agbe community have expressed delight at the opportunity to farm together in a serene and secure environment, free from the threats of herdsmen and kidnappers that have plagued many farming communities in the past. The initiative is being coordinated by Comr Busayo Soroyeun, a vibrant young professional farmer, who expressed optimism that the project would significantly improve the livelihoods of farmers in the community.

"This is a dream come true for our community. We are grateful to the Ogun State Government for thinking of us and providing this opportunity. We promise to make the most of it and ensure that our community becomes a model for agricultural development in the state," Comr Soroyeun said.

The allocation of the farmland is part of the state's efforts to promote community-led agricultural development and enhance food security. It is expected that the project will boost agricultural production, create employment opportunities, and improve the overall well-being of the people of Agbe community and beyond.

The Ogun State Government has assured the community of its continued support for agricultural development and its commitment to creating a conducive environment for farmers to thrive.
