ADO-ODO/OTA EXECUTIVE, LEGISLATURE AGREE TO HOLD REGULAR MEETINGS TO IMPROVE GOVERNANCE

Ota, Ogun State — The Executive and Legislative arms of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have agreed to hold regular meetings and strengthen information sharing to improve governance and public service delivery. The agreement was reached during an Executive-Legislative Dialogue organised by the African Foundation for Environment and Development (AFED), with funding support from CIVICUS. Held at the AFED office in Ota, the dialogue brought together the Local Government Management Team and members of the Legislative Council to strengthen institutional cooperation. The Executive Chairman, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, led the Management Team, comprising elected officials, political appointees and Career Officers.   Ota, Ogun State — The Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, has expressed his administration's commitment to partnering with organised citizens to improve governance, public service delivery and sustainable community development. The commitment followed a policy dialogue facilitated by the African Foundation for Environment and Development (AFED), with funding support from CIVICUS, between representatives of 10 thematic Citizen Groups and the Management Team of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. The consultative forum, held at the AFED office in Ota, focused on citizen participation, government partnership and sustainable community development.   Ado-Odo/Ota, Ogun State — The African Foundation for Environment and Development (AFED), with funding support from CIVICUS, has selected and trained 49 women, youth and community leaders from across Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State to promote environmental justice, civic participation and accountable governance. The beneficiaries were drawn from diverse communities and sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, electricity, gender-based violence, media and community development. They were selected based on their community involvement, leadership potential and commitment to advancing sustainable development at the grassroots.  The political atmosphere in Ogun State shifted on Sunday, August 30, 2026 as Yayi Liberator Political Movement, a grassroots movement based in Ogun State, officially flagged off its campaign for the 2027 general elections.  The event which held at the headquarters of the movement in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government witnessed a massive turnout of thousands of members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Ado-Odo Ota Farmers Petition Senator Yayi Over Seized Empowerment Tractors, Custodian Alleges Harassment and Detention

ADO-ODO OTA, OGUN STATE – Farmers in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have petitioned Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi over the alleged seizure of two tractors donated under the Yayi Agriculture Empowerment Programme. In a petition dated August 18, 2026, addressed to the Senator and copied to the Chairman of the Yayi Agriculture Empowerment Program and the Area Commander, Sango Ota, members of the Ado-Odo Ota Farmers Forum alleged that the tractors, which were handed over to them in April 2025, have been withdrawn from farming activities. According to the petition, one of the tractors was in the custody of Comrade Busayo Soroyeun, whose name appears on the official list of beneficiaries obtained by Alagbawi News as the representative for farmers in the local government. The Forum alleged that the tractor was taken away on April 28, 2026, and was subsequently kept at the Sango Ota Police Station. Baba Yayi, 85, passed on in the early hours of Tuesday, July 14, 2026, after a brief illness.   Until his death, he was the Family Head of Onibata Family in Ago Isaga Compound, Pahayi Yewa - Ilaro. AFAN ADO-ODO/OTTA CHAPTER DISOWNS EXPIRED EXCOS, ACCUSES THEM OF IMPERSONATION, GREED AND SABOTAGE OF FARMERS

  OTTA, OGUN STATE  The authentic leadership of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Chapter has condemned what it called acts of impersonation, greed, and deliberate sabotage by some former state executive members who have refused to vacate office after the expiration of their tenure. In a statement issued to Alagbawi TV on Saturday, the chapter said AFAN remains a non-political and non-partisan association comprising farmers from all political divides. The leadership confirmed that a delegation of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP recently visited the association to seek support ahead of the elections. The delegation was received in line with democratic practice, but *no promise of endorsement or support was made to any party*.
