Residents Of Igbenren otta Community Cries Out For Help As Deadly Windstorm Wreak Havoc, Destroys properties Worth Millions Of Naira.
Residents of Igberen Igbojo community in Ado Odo Ota local government have called on Ogun state government to as a matter of urgency come to their aide as the deadly windstorm that happened on the Friday, October 15 2021 caused so many damages to properties of residents of the community.
The chairman of igbenren igbojo area CDC, Alhaji chief Fatai Ayinde, while speaking with The Daily Advocate News correspondent, said it was a very terrible experience as he has never experienced such disaster as the one that happened in his community. Narrating his ordeal, the chairman said the windstorm started after a short rainfall on the faithful day. After about five minute of rainfall, the deadly windstorm started and like watching a movie, I saw rooftop of houses in the air while electricity poles were falling freely.
A lot of properties worth millions of Naira were damaged and up till now, people are still counting their losses.
The chairman further stated that not less than 20 houses were destroyed and almost 27 electricity poles fell as well both high and low tension.
right now we can't really say if our transformer is still functioning not until there is power supply. we've met with the IBEDC and they promise to come and fix the pole and some necessary things so that there will be power supply because since the incident, there is no power supply.
The chairman also said they've informed the local government chairman about the damages and they also promise to come and see how help could be rendered .
The chairman of ire akari community which is also part of Igberen Igbojo ACDC, comrade Lamboye Sulaimon said the windstorm started around 2pm and after some minutes all they could see is fallen houses, shops, bakery, and schools. We thank God as no lives were lost expect for the animals that died.
One of those affected by the deadly windstorm, Mr Ashimiu Rafiu a bakery owner, said they were already baking bread before they noticed the cloudy sky and they all ran inside only for them to come out after the rain and met the bakery had totally collapsed.
Mr Rafiu further said that it saddens his heart as he doesn't have any means of earning money aside the bakery business. Now that the bakery has collapsed, i have no hope elsewhere hence the need for Ogun state government to come and rescue the situation.
