AFAN ADO-ODO/OTTA CHAPTER DISOWNS EXPIRED EXCOS, ACCUSES THEM OF IMPERSONATION, GREED AND SABOTAGE OF FARMERS

 










OTTA, OGUN STATE 

The authentic leadership of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Chapter has condemned what it called acts of impersonation, greed, and deliberate sabotage by some former state executive members who have refused to vacate office after the expiration of their tenure.


In a statement issued to Alagbawi TV on Saturday, the chapter said AFAN remains a non-political and non-partisan association comprising farmers from all political divides.


The leadership confirmed that a delegation of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP recently visited the association to seek support ahead of the elections. The delegation was received in line with democratic practice, but *no promise of endorsement or support was made to any party*.


ALLEGATIONS OF IMPERSONATION AND SABOTAGE  

The chapter expressed dismay that shortly after the visit, 5 former state executive members whose tenure had expired and was dissolved by the National Executives of AFAN went ahead to issue unauthorized press statements in the name of AFAN Ogun state chapter


The individuals named are:  

1.  Alhaja Kushimo 

2.  Mr. Shogunle  

3.  Princess Soyebi 

4.  Hon. Asanbe Victor 

5.  Mr. Olubunmi Agunrege


The association described their actions as a calculated attempt to drag AFAN into partisan politics and paint the association black before the state government.


“These individuals have been parading themselves illegally and using the name of our association to pursue selfish and political interests. Their tenure expired and was resolved by the national body, yet they have refused to leave office,” the statement said.


They have now been sanctioned to report at the AFAN State Headquarters to explain their impersonation and face appropriate disciplinary action.


TRACTOR DONATION AND YEARS OF STAGNATION 

The chapter further accused the former executives of holding farmers in Ado-Odo/Otta LGA to a standstill through greed and selfish interests.


The leadership called on the public and relevant authorities to demand answers from the said individuals on the whereabouts of the tractor donated in good faith to support farming in Ado-Odo/Otta LGA by Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan, YAYI.


“We are asking: where is that tractor today? For years, these people have used personal greed to sabotage farmers’ progress in this local government. No accountability, no transparency, and no development to show for it,” the statement added.


SUPPORT FOR CURRENT ADMINISTRATION  

AFAN Ado-Odo/Otta LGA reaffirmed its commitment to the agricultural policies of the current administration under:  

His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu  

His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State  

Hon. Wasiu Lawal, Chairman, Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government


The chapter urged members of the public, government agencies, and the media to disregard any statement from the 5 former executives, stressing that they no longer represent AFAN in Ogun state.


“No group of expired officials will be allowed to hijack our association or mortgage the future of our farmers for selfish gain,” it concluded.
