Youths Protest Poor Power Supply in Iju-Ota, Ogun State

Residents of Iju-Ota, Ogun State, have taken a stand against the persistent poor electricity supply in their community. The youths, under the banner of "Olori Odo Iju-Ota," have issued a formal complaint to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), alleging that the community receives only three hours of electricity per week.

The complaint, dated March 23, 2026, also alleges that some businesses and establishments in the area, including hotels and industrial facilities, are receiving preferential treatment, while residents are left in darkness. The youths are demanding equal electricity distribution, an end to preferential treatment, and urgent improvement in power supply.

The youths have given IBEDC seven days to respond, threatening to proceed with a full protest if their demands are not met. The protest has already begun, with the Iju-Ota sub-office of IBEDC peacefully locked. Copies of the complaint have been sent to relevant authorities, including the police and local government officials.

The community is calling for immediate attention to this matter, citing the unacceptable state of electricity supply in Iju-Ota.
