Olota of Otta Defies Obstruction Attempts, Visits Kajola Iboro Amid Tensions

Alake of Ake, Solicitor General Accused of Sponsorship; Governor Abiodun Urged to Intervene

In a bold move, the Olota of Otta, Oba (Prof) Adeyemi Obalanlege, successfully visited Kajola Iboro on Saturday, October 19, 2024, despite reported attempts to obstruct his visit. The town falls under his jurisdiction within the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government.

Sources close to the palace allege that hoodlums, sponsored by the Alake of Ake, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and his allies, including Ogun State Solicitor General, Mr. Olusegun Olaotan, were behind the obstruction efforts.

The Alake of Ake had previously attempted to install a Baale in Kajola Iboro, sparking tensions and controversy within the community. However, the Olota emphasized that the Alake's authority is confined to the Ake section of Abeokuta South Local Government, making any leadership imposition in Kajola Iboro illegitimate.

In response to these developments, the Olota has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene and address the situation urgently. He also urged the Governor to caution Mr. Olaotan, citing concerns over the Solicitor General's alignment with those undermining traditional authority.

Despite provocations from hired hoodlums, the Olota remained calm and composed, ensuring the safety of his people. He assured Kajola Iboro residents to remain calm, as reports of overnight attacks on innocent residents have been lodged with the Nigeria Police for investigation and prosecution.

The Olota stressed, "We will not be intimidated or provoked into chaos. As the traditional leader of Ota, it's my duty to maintain peace and order in our community." Ota is a significant industrial hub and cultural center in Ogun State, and the Olota plays a vital role in ensuring stability.

The community looks up to Governor Abiodun to take immediate action to address this situation and prevent further tensions. The Olota's visit to Kajola Iboro demonstrates his commitment to protecting his people and upholding traditional authority.
