OGUN AJOBO FESTIVAL: Sokenu Ibikan Otta Set to Celebrate Rich Cultural Heritage

 




Sokenu Ibikan Otta community is gearing up to celebrate the prestigious Ogun Ajobo festival, scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 17, 2024.


According to the Baale of the town, Chief Ibrahim Taofeeq Adeshina Adesalu, the festival will showcase the town's vibrant cultural heritage through various displays, including mesmerizing performances by two renowned masquerade groups: Baoku Ise Otan and Okanke.


"These iconic masquerades are an integral part of our cultural identity, and their performances will be a highlight of the festival," Chief Adesalu stated. "We invite everyone to join us in this joyous occasion."


The festival will feature a range of cultural exhibitions, showcasing the town's rich traditions, music, and art. The celebration will provide a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the authentic cultural heritage of Sokenu Ibikan Otta.


Following the festival, an Oro tradition procession will take place from 11 pm, and the community has announced that there will be a total restriction on human and vehicular movement during this period.


Residents and visitors are advised to cooperate with the authorities to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration.
