Bad Representation And The Adverse Effect On Ota People. ( Part One).
Ado Odo Ota local government in Ogun state is no doubt a blessed land also blessed with so many flourishing opportunities which can make it thrive economically and political wise.
The local government is the second most industrialised in Nigeria and it proximity to Lagos state is no doubt an opportunity to be a success.
The local government can also be described as a land that flows with milk and honey.
When we talk about politics, Ado Odo Ota local government is blessed politically. The current deputy govenor of Ogun state is from the local government. Also, the majority leader, Ogun state house of assembly is also from the same local government not to mention those who are commissioners and even special advisers and also, the chief press Secretary to the governor.
We also have those who represents Ado Odo Ota in Abuja and host of other political appointees which shows truly that Ota is Indeed blessed politically.
With all this economic and political blessings, development in Ota today is still nothing to write home about. Most residents of Ota still lament about the terrible state of roads, Insecurity, lack of social ammenities and epileptic power supply.
Most residents have attributed non presence of government impact both at the federal and state level to bad representation from those who have represented or are currently representing the local government at the local, state or federal level.
Most people have argued that those who have been voted to make laws which can impact positively on the local government have failed to do so but have chosen only to make the numbers in either the state house of assembly or the green chambers.
Most of this politicians can only be described as nothing but greedy set of people who has no second address other than politics and are afraid to taste the water of poverty again.
The fact is that most of this people are opportunist who rode on the goodwill of voters to get to power.
Some have also blamed the leaders Who keeps pampering this elected politicians with the saying" OMO WA NI. Leaders have been urged to call the underperforming politicians to order not to bother wasting the slots giving to them but to allow people with integrity to represent us so as not rubbish the good hard earned image of the leaders who people see as those this bad representative hide under.
As for the elected politicians, they are aware of their rejection by the people of Ota, hence their desperate move to remain popular among the voters.
The hurriedly organized cosmectic empowerment programs been organized and other deceitful programs they call dividends of democracy from them attest to their failures.
For the past 12 years, power has been domiciled in a particular area as if there are no other better options. Only one individual has been representing us in Abuja without no meaningful infrasctural development. If for 11 years, only a bill is sponsored by that same representative. The hurriedly sponsored bill is full of so many irregularities. I am not surprised, it is a gimic to divert the attention of the people away from his flops of 11 years.
It is shameful that we have the representative of the state house of assembly from Ota while development is nothing to talk about. The construction of the 1.2km joju road project is going at a snail pace for over 2 years now while other lengthy roads in the state have been completed at a very fast pace.
Yet, we have a representative who can not move a single motion about this but has chosen to do sit down dey look.
We know their worth before they were elected to serve and what they worth now with just only two years in the house of assembly but yet they could not facilitate the construction of the road leading to the community they reside because they use cars that can carry the pressure of terrible roads.
I wish you can visit The office of this so called state house of assembly representative somewhere around Oju Ore during the raining season, you will surely feel for the people who resides in that community. If the representative can not facilitate a proper drainage then what else can he do?
In conclusion, Ota people must wake up from their sleep and say NO to bad representation. These politicians have taken us for granted enough. They believe due to their influence in the party, they will surely be giving the tickets to return for another term.
I want them to know that they are not the voters. They've referred to voters as chickens who are have been caged for years without food or water and that this is now time to release the chickens from the cage and give them food.
It is left to us to make our choice either to remain in captivity or get our freedom from the so called political oppressors.
THE TIME IS NOW!!!
