We Now Spend One Thousand Naira From Oju Ore To Ilogbo, Passengers Lament.
Residents of Ilogbo Ota in Ado Odo local government, Ogun state have cried out as transport fare from Oju Ore to Ilogbo Ota is now above #1,000. A radio program, Igba Owuro on Hebron 95.9FM which was monitored by Daily Advocate online news correspondent earlier today, callers on who called in on the program lamented the sudden increase in transport fare from Oju Ore to Ilogbo which normally cost from #200 to #300 now cost a thousand naira and above.
Further checks on the sudden increase in fare revealed that the bad state of the road contributed largely to the increase.
Some commercial drivers who spoke with our correspondent revealed that the cost of maintaining their vehicles because of the bad road is outrageous and so have no choice than to increase the fare. Most of our colleagues are no longer plying this road, if you go to a place called Etere, you will discover that the road is almost divided into two. We pass through hell to navigate through that axis.
We are not happy increasing the fare but it is beyond our capacity. Even okada riders are not willing to ply this axis any longer.
Some of the residents of Ilogbo Ota who spoke with our correspondent explained that all roads entering Ilogbo community is now a death trap. Either you want to come in from Oju Ore, Owode Iyana Ilogbo and even from Iju Ota, they are impassable.
We are appealing to the state government to please come to our aid and save the situation because businesses in this axis have been affected, it seems we are not even part of the state. The past and present administration do come here to campaign and promise to fix the road once they get to power but when they get there, reverse is the case.
You people better call unto God and shine your eyes in the coming election and stop the politics of collect and vote for us that brought you to neglect. I hope una go wise up. This side is no longer part of Ogun State because government has abandoned and completely failed here. The Plots too should call all his political children to rise to the plight of these areas in Ota Awori kingdom. Their daughter is the Deputy Governor and her impact is not felt. I feel sorry for the residence on this part of the state. The suffering and pain on this axis as per road network is terrible.
