It Is A Taboo For Masquerade To Enter Egushi Kingdom, Otuku Forbids It, Oba Maroof Alagbe, Elegushi Of Egushi Ota .

Friday 20th of August was a memorable day for the entire people of Egushi Ota Awori kingdom as the first ever Egushi Isese day was celebrated in style.

The very colorful event was held at the Otuku deity shrine located within With God Community, Egushi Ota, Ogun state. The event which kick started on Thursday 19th August 2021 started with the worshiping of god of iron popular known as Ogun bibo in Yoruba language.

On Friday 20th August 2021, it was time for the main event where different cultural heritage and values were showcased. The local hunters, vigilante groups and traditional worshipers all offered prayers for the community while also displaying various traditional dance steps.

In his speech, the Elegushi of Egushi Ota Awori kingdom, H.R.H Maroof Adio Alagbe, gave narratives of how the kingdom was founded over 300 years ago and how their forefathers moved from Ile Ife to settle down in Ota with three different deities which Otuku was one of them. The mornach further stated that though Ota is known as the assembly of masquerades, Egushi do not worship masquerades as Otuku deity forbids such.

We are planning to turn the Otuku shrine into a tourist attraction site where people all over the world can come and see the wonders of tradition for themselves. Otuku is a powerful deity that whatever is your heart desire, once you request from this deity, it will be granted. Many women who are barren have come here to make their wish of having babies and such can testify today that their wish have been granted said the monarch.

While answering questions from pressmen on his satisfaction and the massive turnout of people, the monarch stated that he was impressed with the massive turnout and that he was happy that the prayers offered for the community was granted which was followed by the signs that some deities which has long disappeared, reappeared while offering prayers for the community.

The Baale of Oke Otuku community also addressed pressmen after the event. He expressed satisfaction and was full of praise to Eledunmare. He urged the Yoruba race to take tradition more serious as it the believe of the Yoruba's before the existence of religion.
