Physical Screening of Shortlisted Candidates Begins Feb 26 ILARO - No fewer than 5,000 undergraduates from Ogun State will soon receive financial relief courtesy of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola's Scholarship Scheme. According to a statement signed by the Board Secretary, Ajiroba Dapo Oke, the over 5,000 shortlisted candidates are in two categories of Scholarship and Bursary Awards that cater for students of all approved public tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The physical screening of the candidates is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, February 26 to Saturday, March 1 at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro. To qualify for the scholarship, students must have a minimum of Second Class Upper or Upper Credit and above, while the bursary award is open to all confirmed students of tertiary institutions who applied.  The atmosphere was electric as members of the Yayi Liberators movement gathered for their annual thanksgiving ceremony, marking the beginning of a new year and the kickoff of the group's political activities. Held at the group's secretariat in Otta, Ogun State, the event was a vibrant display of music, dance, and praise, as members came together to express their gratitude for the past year and their hopes for the future. The ceremony featured a live band performance, with melodious songs that got everyone on their feet, singing along and dancing.   Yomi Adetula, the Director, Anti-Arms Smuggling of the Social Orientation and Safety (So-Safe) Corps in Ogun State, has been murdered by suspected assassins in Idi-Iroko, Ipokia Local Government Area of the state. According to multiple residents of Idi-Iroko, Adetula was in his church, located off Old Baggage Road, Idi-Iroko, when gunmen who were also bearing other dangerous weapons invaded his church minutes after 10am on Sunday, attacking him. “They first shot him but the bullets did not penetrate him,” one resident told FIJ. “They then proceeded to inflict fatal wounds on him with their other weapons, which include hammer and machete. Also in town were  colourfully dressed men and women who took the one hour boat ride to be part of the making of history history. The convoy of speedboats took off from Degema jetty at about 8:30am, did a brief stop at Buguma before proceeding to Elem Kalabari, also known as Old Shipping. Elem Kalabari also known as the Source is the cradle of Kalabari development, it was the first settlement of the kalabari nation at inception before they dispersed into various towns and communities as it is known today for economic and social considerations.
